
ELIGIBILITY
The eligibility rules for the 2008 Texas Home School State Basketball Championships are taken from the National Christian Home School Basketball Championships.
Academics Each member team and/or program shall have standards in place to make sure that all participating players maintain at least a 2.0 GPA (on a 4 point scale) during the active season. Where the active season is defined as October through March of the following year. For example, the 2007-2008 active season begins in October 2007 and ends March 2008. Age Restrictions Boys and Girls 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under, and 18 and under are the eight different age groups offered. A player’s age group is determined by their age on September 1st, 2007. For example, a player who is 16 on September 1st, 2007, but turns 17 on October 5th is considered eligible to play in 16 and under age group at the 2008 State Championships. Players may play in a higher age group if desired. Transfer Students Any student who transfers from a public school, Christian/Private School, or another homeschool team because of disciplinary reasons must wait one year before they are eligible to participate in any THSBC activity. All other players are eligible instantaneously. However, player must play on the team he/she plays on at State for the second semester. Players wishing to play on a team that they do not participate on during the year may request a hardship exemption. Homeschool Requirements For a player to be considered homeschooled, 51% of their education must arrive from at least one of the following sources:
Players must live at home with their legal guardian to be considered homeschooled. |
